Key Strategy Behind the Removal of BGN Head Dadan Hindayana
Key Strategy – Presiden Prabowo Subianto’s decision to replace Dadan Hindayana as head of the Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) has been framed as a key strategy to align the institution more closely with public aspirations. Wakil Ketua DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad expressed support for the move, stating that it reflects the government’s responsiveness to societal input and the effectiveness of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program. “The DPR acknowledges the government’s efforts to incorporate public feedback and enhance organizational efficiency through this strategic adjustment,” he emphasized during a speech at Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
“This key strategy ensures that BGN remains dynamic and continues to serve communities effectively, particularly in empowering 3T areas (terpencil, terdepan, terluar),” Dasco added.
Public Aspirations and the Role of the DPR
The public’s demand for improved nutrition programs has been a central theme in the key strategy. Over the past year, citizens have increasingly called for transparency and accountability in the implementation of MBG, which aims to provide free nutritious meals to vulnerable populations. According to Prasetyo Hadi, the Minister of State Secretariat, the change was driven by the need to address shortcomings identified during a comprehensive evaluation. “The key strategy involves refining operational protocols and ensuring the program meets its intended goals,” he explained in a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on the same day.
“The evaluation highlighted issues such as inconsistent adherence to standard operating procedures and gaps in quality control,” Hadi noted.
Evaluation Process and Reasons for Change
The replacement of Dadan Hindayana followed a detailed review of the BGN’s performance over the past 18 months. This key strategy was designed to assess the effectiveness of the MBG program and identify areas for improvement. Prasetyo Hadi revealed that the president had closely monitored the program’s progress, noting that the evaluation provided critical insights into its implementation. “The key strategy aims to enhance the program’s impact by addressing internal inefficiencies and fostering stronger collaboration with local governments,” he said, highlighting the importance of aligning national policies with grassroots needs.
“This key strategy ensures that BGN remains responsive to public demands while maintaining its core mission of nutrition security,” Hadi emphasized.
Strategic Leadership and Future Plans
President Prabowo Subianto officially appointed Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as the new head of BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. The announcement was made by Prasetyo Hadi, who also named Agustina Arumsari and Mayjen TNI Trenggono as deputy heads. “The key strategy is to establish a leadership team that can streamline operations and accelerate progress in achieving the program’s objectives,” he stated. The new appointments are expected to bolster the BGN’s capacity to deliver sustainable nutrition solutions across Indonesia.
“With this key strategy, we aim to ensure that all stakeholders, including local authorities, are fully engaged in the MBG initiative,” Prasetyo added.
Looking ahead, the key strategy will focus on integrating feedback from both national and regional levels to optimize the MBG program. Prabowo stressed the importance of continuous collaboration with provinces and districts, stating that the success of the initiative depends on a unified effort. “The key strategy must prioritize accessibility and quality in every step of the program, ensuring that no community is left behind,” he concluded, underscoring the government’s commitment to nutritional equity. This approach aligns with broader efforts to improve public welfare through targeted interventions and strategic reforms.
