During the meeting, both parties reviewed the implementation progress of the Conservation of Natural Habitats and Iconic Species Task Force, established via Presidential Regulation No. 8 of 2026. The main agenda of this task force is to strengthen conservation efforts, mobilize innovative financing, and support the achievement of the FOLU Net Sink 2030 targets. Raja Juli Antoni emphasized the importance of aligning national policies with international frameworks to ensure long-term sustainability in biodiversity preservation.

“Kedua pihak meninjau perkembangan implementasi Satuan Tugas Konservasi Bentang Alam dan Spesies Ikonik yang dibentuk berdasarkan Keputusan Presiden Nomor 8 Tahun 2026,” ujar Raja Juli Antoni, seperti dilansir Antara.

“Pemerintah Indonesia tengah mengembangkan pendekatan pembiayaan yang disesuaikan dengan karakteristik masing-masing kawasan, termasuk melalui skema blended finance, filantropi, dan pendanaan publik, guna menutup kesenjangan pendanaan konservasi yang masih cukup besar,” kata Raja Juli Antoni.

One of the key initiatives under the main agenda is the Peusangan Elephant Conservation Initiative (PECI), which serves as a model for integrated conservation strategies. This program demonstrates how the protection of key species can be combined with economic development and long-term investment attraction. Indonesia currently manages 57 national parks covering nearly 18 million hectares, which are home to iconic global species.
